STRESS

Do you feel highly stressed?

If high levels of stress are interfering with you enjoying a healthy life, it is worth seeking professional help. A Psychologist, can help you identify behaviours and situations that are contributing to high stress, and help you to make changes to the things that are within your control. Seeking help can be one way to manage your stress effectively.

Persistent feelings of sadness, tearfulness, irritability, accompanied by a loss of interest or pleasure in usual activities may be a sign you’re experiencing depression. Gold Coast Psychologists

What can I expect when I visit?

Upon arrival at our Broadbeach practice, you will be greeted by our friendly staff and asked to complete some information and consent forms prior to commencing your initial session. We ask that you arrive at least 15 minutes early to allow time for this.

If you have been referred by your GP, please bring your referral letter (Mental Health Care Plan) with you so that you are able to claim the Medicare rebate. Your psychologist will then guide you to the consulting room to commence your initial session.

Our psychologists provide evidence-based treatment tailored to your individual needs. Care starts with an initial assessment to help our team understand your specific health goals, and develop a recommended care plan to suit your needs.

We have on site claiming for both Medicare and private health funds. Payment is required at the time of your visit so it is important to bring your Doctor’s Referral and your Medicare and Private Health Fund cards.

FEES

Psychological Consultation $220

Individual Consultations comprising 50 minutes
(A Medicare rebate of $89.65 applies with a Mental Health Care Plan issued by your GP)

Medicare Rebates

Medicare rebates are available for clients who are referred by a GP, Psychiatrist or Paediatrician under a Mental Health Care Plan. This will allow for a Medicare rebate for 10 individual sessions per calendar year (January to December). An additional 10 sessions are available for individuals impacted by COVID19.

To determine if you are eligible for a Medicare rebate you will need to visit your General Practitioner (GP) and explain your mental health concerns and obtain a referral.

You may need to book a longer consultation with your GP so that they have adequate time to develop a care plan with you. Your GP will give you a referral called a “Mental Health Care Plan”, along with a letter of referral, which entitles you to Medicare Rebates. Please bring these two documents to your first consultation.

Private Health Insurance

Most private health insurers offer rebates on psychological services, which will vary based on your level of cover. We have hicaps claiming so you can claim the service fee at the time of the appointment and pay only the required gap payment.

You cannot use your private health insurance to top up the Medicare rebates for these services. You will need to decide if you will use Medicare or your private health cover to pay for psychological services.

Cancellation Policy

As we have a waiting list our appointments are valuable. If you need to reschedule or cancel your appointment, please do so 24 hours prior to your appointment to avoid paying the full fee. This will enable us to provide the appointment to other clients in need.
